Welcome speech by the Akim of the West Kazakhstan region
Dear participants of the 21st Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum!
I am pleased to welcome you to the hospitable land of the West Kazakhstan Region! This is the third time the Forum is being held in Uralsk, and it is a significant event for all of us.
Holding such a large-scale annual event is evidence of the high level of trust and constructive dialogue between Kazakhstan and Russia, based on a strong strategic partnership.
Our countries are carrying out systematic work to increase the volume of mutual trade and to expand investment cooperation. A wide range of issues is effectively addressed within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation.
The main theme of this year’s forum is «Skilled Trades as a Driving Force of Economic Growth». It is precisely skilled trades that ensure the development of industry, energy, transport, and logistics, forming the basis for sustainable trade and economic cooperation between our countries.
Today, the West Kazakhstan Region is one of the most industrially and agriculturally developed regions in the country. From 2025 to 2030, more than 70 projects with a total value of about 2.2 trillion tenge are planned for implementation, which will create over 9,000 new jobs. The region is home to one of the world’s largest oil, gas, and gas condensate fields — Karachaganak.
I am confident that the forum will give new impetus to the development of the region, deepen mutually beneficial economic cooperation, and strengthen business ties between entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and Russia in all priority areas.
I wish all forum participants fruitful work, successful achievement of your goals, and continued prosperity for our countries!
Sincerely, Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Turegaliev
